Middlebury baseball avoided a season sweep against Plattsburgh, picking up the 14-5 win on the road. The Cardinals, who took down the Panthers 14-11 back on Tuesday, March 12, were on a four-game winning streak heading into the contest. The Cardinals got off enough to another good start, where a three-run first inning, including a two-RBI single from Daniel Novelli, put them up 3-1 after the bottom frame. The Panthers scored three or more runs of offense in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings of play. The Panthers were led by Nathan Samii on offense, batting 2-5 with 4 RBIs. Mitchell Schroeder also had a notable performance at the plate, hitting 2-5 with 4 RBIs, including a three-run home run in the top of the 8th. Middlebury will look to build on their bats in a weekend series against NSECAC opponent Amherst College on Friday, April 19.
