A Burlington man is behind bars this weekend after he assaulted a firefighter and police officer with his bodily fluids Saturday afternoon.According to BPD, Burlington firefighters were responding to an incident on North Willard Street, near the intersection of Henry Street, when 46-year-old Michael Reynolds was allegedly intoxicated, uncooperative, and eventually combative. Authorities said Reynolds threatened the firefighters and then assaulted a fire captain with his bodily fluids. Reynolds was able to get away.Firefighters reportedly witnessed Reynolds trying to enter houses on Henry Street after the attack.BPD officers found Reynolds on Pearl Street. While in custody, Reynolds assaulted a police sergeant, once again with his bodily fluids, which sent the sergeant to the emergency room. Reynolds is being lodged at Northwest State Correctional Facility. He is being charged with two counts of assault of protected a professional and one count of aggravated disorderly conduct.BPD said Reynolds has had 1,700 police encounters since 2012, which includes six felony convictions, 42 misdemeanor convictions, and 13 assaultive crimes, one of which was an assault of an officer using a dangerous or deadly weapon.
