Plattsburgh High School baseball showed no issues in defending its sectional championship title. Peru High School seemed to have no chance in the Section VII Class A championship, with Plattsburgh taking the dominant 12-1 victory. The Hornets had a seven-run frame in the Bottom of the Second, including a timely 2-RBI single by Andre Anderson. Anderson finished the day hitting 3 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBIs. The Hornets tallied 12 hits in the contest as a team, with Dom D’Angelo, Nate Baker, and Braedan Calkins all joining Anderson with the Hornets’ hitting two or more hits at the plate.Plattsburgh’s pitching was dominant on the mound, which should come to no surprise to Hornet fans when Warren Miller is on the bump. The SUNY Cortland commit pitched a complete game allowing just two hits and one run with 14 strikeouts on the afternoon. Miller shared after the victory that helping his team win another sectional title was the goal leading back to the first day of practices. “I’ve been ready for this game since day one of the season,” Miller said. “Our boys had that idea in mind since the first day of tryouts. We accomplished it, came through and made it happen.”Plattsburgh High School baseball punches its ticket back to the state playoffs, where last year, the Hornets made a final four appearance in the Class B bracket. This year, they will look to make it there and potentially go even farther as they take on Section II’s Class A champions, Albany Academy for Boys High School, in the New York regional semifinals. First pitch is on Thursday, May 30, at SUNY Plattsburgh’s Chip Cummings Field.
