Less than a month after a shooting incident near Malletts Bay, police in Colchester are now investigating another shooting in the same neighborhood. According to CPD, officers responded to Sharrow Circle, down the street from Thayer Beach, for a reported shooting shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday.Officers arrived at the scene, finding the 31-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.The unnamed victim was taken to the UVM Medical Center. As of Sunday night, police shared he was in stable condition.Colchester Police have not identified any possible suspects in Sunday evening’s incident or in the gunfire incident that happened on April 28. Multiple next-door neighbors told NBC5 they saw two individuals run from the scene on Sunday through the woods and down West Lakeshore Drive.Authorities reassured there remains no risk to the general public.”Based on witnesses and the victim’s interview we’ve been able to do so far, we believe it was a targeted incident,” said Sgt. David Dewey.Police are still determining if the two incidents are connected.“We don’t know at this point,” Dewey said. “We’re just trying to put all the pieces together still.”The Colchester Police Department was assisted at the scene by police from Essex, Winooski, and Burlington.
