A New Hampshire animal shelter said it helped rescue four puppies involved in an alleged dog-fighting operation in New Jersey.According to the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Cocheco Valley in Dover, four puppies arrived at their shelter in May with scars and untreated injuries. Genesis, Carter, Willie and Costello were just four of the more than 120 dogs rescued in New Jersey, according to the shelter.Shelter manager Caryn Fugatt said she and her team have spent the past month rehabilitating the puppies and making them adoption-ready. She said three out of four puppies have already found their forever homes.”We see dogs come to us from some pretty unfortunate situations like these dogs and puppies that came with the Humane Society of the United States. They have scars and emotional trauma, and it really does take a lot of extra time and patience to get them ready for adoption,” Fugatt said.The shelter said it expects several more puppies involved in the alleged dog-fighting operation to arrive in the coming days.
