A manhunt for several armed suspects in the Northeast Kingdom lasted throughout the early afternoon into the evening on Sunday. Vermont State Police said the situation started after Troopers from the Derby Barracks were called to a reported firearms-involved dispute just before 1 p.m. People had supposedly been injured at a home on Spencer Hill Road in the town of Coventry. When troopers got to the home, they found two men with non-life-threatening injuries, while several armed suspects ran into the surrounding woods.Troopers and Newport police officers were able to quickly take one suspect into custody without incident. Throughout the afternoon, VSP said law enforcement officers searched the area, which included Route 14, Spencer Hill Road, Hancock Hill Road, and Maple Ridge Road.By around 4:30 p.m., all of the suspects had been found and identified as three teenagers from Springfield, Massachusetts. They were arrested without incident. Each suspect is facing charges of aggravated assault as well as assault and robbery. They’re due in court in Orleans County Monday. State police said there was a large law enforcement presence visible in the area, and a road was closed for most of the afternoon. Nearby neighbors may have heard loud bangs, which Troopers said were nonlethal devices they had deployed. No shots were fired, reportedly.
