Heat wave peaks Wednesday as temperatures approach 100 degrees in parts of Vermont, New York
Much cooler on Friday
The heat wave continues on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday will be the hottest day of the stretch, with highs reaching the low and middle 90s for most, upper 90s for some. Lower 90s are expected on Thursday. Both days will stay very humid.Ironically, very few record high temperatures will be set. Being that it is solstice week, with the strongest sun of the year, most of the records are out of reach. Still, there will be a few new ones, especially if warm night records are included.A few pop-up thunderstorms are likely Wednesday afternoon, but a better chance for more organized thunderstorms is expected Thursday, as a cold front moves in from the north. Friday, behind the front, will be far more comfortable! A mostly dry day is expected, with only a spot shower or storm — especially south. This weekend is looking unsettled, with showers Saturday and storms Sunday. Temperatures will be seasonable, with highs near 80, but it will likely be a bit more humid.STAY WEATHER-AWAREFor the latest weather coverage for your area, click here.
