Jennifer Chandler was on Team USA in the 1976 games in Montreal. She was a part of the diving team and says even though her Olympic memories are now 48 years old, the experience is something no one can ever forget.Chandler’s Olympic appearance is well-documented with candid and professional photos. She just returned from watching the diving trials in Tennessee. She says the team that’ll be headed to Paris is set, and she knows how they’re feeling.“The idea of representing the United States of America and putting on your sweats with Team USA on the back, it is a lifelong dream come true,” Chandler said. But Chandler’s dream was even sweeter. She won gold in the women’s three-meter springboard.“It’s the most proud I’ve ever felt. I know standing on the award stand when they were playing the national anthem and the flag was going up at the end of that 50-meter pool and I knew that the one in the middle was for me, it was so overwhelming. Never been more proud in my life. Just representing the United States is amazing; getting a medal is the cherry on top,” she said.Chandler won’t be able to make the games in Paris. So she’ll be watching from home, like most people. She says that doesn’t mean she won’t be supporting Team USA.“Athletes most definitely can feed off the energy that comes from the fans and from their family and their people that are supporting them. That energy is sustaining, and you can’t really put a name to it, but you can feel that support. So, when you’re in your living room, and you want to yell and cheer, yell loud,” Chandler said.
