A Bristol Police Cruiser was damaged Wednesday night, after hitting heavy rain and high water in Monkton. Vermont State Police say Officer Armin Nukic was on duty at the time. Officer Nukic was traveling north on Silver Street in the town of Monkton, just before midnight. Police say there was heavy rain and flooding roadways. While traveling, Officer Nukic approached powerlines and a pole that were down, blocking the roadway. In his attempts to avoid colliding with the downed powerlines, the cruiser went onto the shoulder of the northbound lane, which gave way because of the heavy rain and water. Police say the cruiser rolled approximately 30 feet down an embankment. Officer Nukic was able to exit the vehicle. He was transported to Porter Medical Center as a precaution and later released.The cruiser sustained damage to the sides and roof.
