An air quality alert has been issued across all counties in our region as of late Friday morning. The alerts will remain in effect through Saturday morning.Smoke from wildfires in western Canada has traveled over 2,000 miles, carried east by upper-level winds, creating that smoky, sometimes orange-tinted sky we’ve been seeing. While the smoke has mostly remained high in the atmosphere, forecast models show that some of it could will ground level by Friday afternoon, worsening the air quality.If you’re sensitive to poor air quality — whether you have asthma, are older or very young — it’s best to limit your time outside and keep windows closed, especially in the afternoon and evening when the smoke is expected to be more concentrated.Air quality does improve into the weekend. A front moving through Sunday will push the wildfire smoke out of our region from west to east.
