The body of a missing Wisconsin man was located in Northern New York on Sunday after a dayslong search, according to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation.DEC Forest Rangers said New York State Police first notified dispatch that they had found a vehicle belonging to a missing 29-year-old at the Cold Brook Public Use Area in Saranac on the morning of Sept. 12.The student, who was not identified by name, had been reported missing on Sept. 9 after he failed to show up for the fall semester at Columbia University. The student’s family had not heard from him since Aug. 31, according to forest rangers.A four-day search for the student included nearly three dozen forest rangers as well as numerous volunteers from departments including the Forest Ranger Academy, New York State Police, the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and more.In total, crews search more than 240 miles via ATV and foot, and also search 89 acres using drones to locate the missing person.On Sunday afternoon, crews finally located the missing student’s body in a thick swampy area and turned him over to the Clinton County coroner for an autopsy.
