With one week until Election Day, a passionate group of Vermonters is hitting the road in support of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. A bus trip organized by state Treasurer Michael Pieciak and former Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger will take approximately 40 Vermont residents on a six-hour trip to Scranton, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, November 2nd.”Vermonters are always engaged and always care about politics and making sure that we’ve got the best person in the White House,” said Thomas Renner, Deputy Mayor of Winooski.With just one week remaining until voters head to the polls, the group aims to energize supporters in a crucial swing state.”We really do have that privilege in Vermont, where we can go out and assist other states,” Renner said.The trip reflects a broader strategy to mobilize voters in key states where every vote could make a difference.Pieciak explained the goal and mission behind the trip.”We were thinking about ways we can impact this race. There’s a lot of excitement here in Vermont about Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, and we want to turn that enthusiasm into action,” Pieciak said.Burlington resident Hannah King expressed her commitment to the cause.”As a young person, it’s my responsibility to show up and do what we can to elect Democrats who will work for the working class,” King said.Renner added that the message to other Vermonters is clear.”We have to do the work,” Renner said.In a statement to NBC5, Vermont GOP Chair Paul Dame noted that Republicans are focusing their efforts locally, concentrating on state House and Senate races.”All the VT Republicans I’m aware of are focusing their efforts here at home on state House and Senate races,” Dame said.As both parties gear up for the final push before Election Day, the outcome in Pennsylvania, and other swing states, remains uncertain.”It comes down to a small handful of voters, and whoever works harder in this last week, in my opinion, is going to win,” Pieciak said.There are still a few seats available on the bus.
