The City of Plattsburgh held a public forum Wednesday night at city hall discussing the mayor’s proposed budget for 2025. Some of the highlights in the budget proposal include a nearly 0.5% decrease to the annual general fund expenses, as well as a 5.7% decrease on the city tax rate.Officials said that would mark the lowest rate since 2004 but would still allow the city to maintain its current staff and services.Mayor Rosenquest expressed satisfaction with the budget’s structure, emphasizing its focus on sustaining essential services without requiring reductions in the workforce.“I think that it would be beneficial to maintain some of the staffing levels and the service levels that we currently have,” said Rosenquest. “If we’re serious about maintaining that quality of service for the city residents and for our visitors.
