The Killington team took advantage of the weather to start making snow for the first time this season Saturday morning. The resort had 500 brand new, highly-efficient snow guns installed this summer. Early Saturday, they fired up the guns on North Ridge and Superstar.The staff says they owe it to the forecast for a beautiful first day of snowmaking.”It is all dependent on what Mother Nature throws our way, we are obviously trying to open as soon as possible. We can’t wait” said Killington’s Brooke Geery.The resort is readying the mountain for the big Stifel Killington Cup in just a few weeks.”We have about 250 snow guns going right now, so hopefully that will get us open and ready for the race at the same time,” said Geery.Geery says this is a relatively late start for snowmaking after the warm weather the region has seen.The Killington Cup goes from Nov. 29 through Dec. 1.
