The Vergennes Partnership and Vergennes Grand are hosting a special giveaway to make the shopping experience more exciting this year, offering shoppers a chance to win big while supporting local businesses.

“It’s a really cool way of making it a fun experience as opposed to just thinking about shopping,” says owner Laura Mack of Lu•lu Ice Cream, one of the participating local businesses.

The giveaway features blue raffle boxes set up at various businesses across town, giving people the chance to win prizes, including a $100 Vergennes Green gift card.

This gift card can be used at any participating business in the area, making it an ideal prize for anyone looking to continue their holiday shopping.

“Making it a kind of adventure, not only spending money locally but also getting this extra bonus of supporting a business and maybe winning a little something,” Mack said.

Just a short walk away at Diddle & Zen, Abby Matson agrees that the raffle boxes offer a fun incentive to visit multiple local shops.

“It encourages people to visit those other stores because every store has a different raffle item. So it creates a lot more excitement and a lot more reason to visit all the stores and venture out,” Matson said.

Matson also added that the event draws attention from nearby towns.

“Everything we have to offer here in Vergennes, it’s more reason for people to come from Burlington down this way. And with Middlebury, us being in between them, there’s just a great opportunity for us all the time here,” Matson said.

This giveaway is just the beginning of many festive events hosted by the Vergennes Partnership throughout the holiday season.
