It’s that time of year where holiday shoppers are packing stores with one week left until Christmas. In Williston local businesses said the boom has been great as the town continues to grow. “We do half of our business in the last quarter of the year so October through December, and I think we do a tenth of our business a week prior to Christmas,” said Elizabeth Skinner, a Co-Owner of Turner Toys. She said while the extra business is welcome, they love helping and matching people with that special toy someone is going to open under the tree. “We also love to think about Christmas morning and all the kids waking up and all the presents they got from Tuner Toys, so it’s really fun we bring in a lot of toys, some of them fly off the shelves, we’ve already had to do reorders,” Skinner said. Just down the road at Lenny’s Shoe and Apparel, they said they can’t keep Vermont’s own, Darn Tough, socks on the shelf, and that they’ve seen a steady mix of in person but also online sales this holiday season. “Our online business has been booming, so a lot of people are shopping Lenny’s website but still coming into the store as well, so it’s been pretty exciting. Our inventory looks like we’re pretty full but at the same time we know as staff that we’re selling a lot of good product,” said Bobbie Jo Roby, a store manager at Lenny’s in Williston. If you plan on sending a card or shipping something you bought the United States postal service recommended having it in the mail by Wednesday and suggest depending how far it’s going to pay for priority to make sure it gets there on time.
