
Interim President of the University of Vermont Patricia Prelock will soon be heading to Tuscon for a new position at the University of Arizona.Prelock has been named as the next senior vice president for academic affairs and provost, according to an announcement from university officials. UVM previously confirmed that they knew Prelock had been interviewing for the role.The news comes just weeks after Marlene Tromp was chosen as the incoming president of the University of Vermont. Prelock had been serving as interim president following the departure of Suresh Garimella, who accepted a new role as president of the University of Arizona. Prelock was among four finalists for the role and recently visited the campus in March. In addition to her administrative post at the University of Arizona, she is also being considered for a faculty appointment, the announcement said.Prelock will begin her new job at the University of Arizona on May 19.She is the third member of the UVM administration to take a position at Arizona University. Richard Cate, UVM’s vice president for finance and administration, has accepted a new role there as a special advisor to the president and will be leaving Vermont in June.
