
Sitting on Main Street since 1863, the Stowe Community Church steeple is one of the most photographed in the northeast. However, since this past October any pictures of the church have been missing the iconic spire due to some much-needed reconstruction.After a series of inspections, it was determined that many commonly used spaces, including the steeple were badly in need of repair – the top 25 feet of the structure were entirely rotted away. Since then, church board members, have shared their many thanks to the community for the 1.7 million dollars they were able to raise in order to complete the renovation projects.Elementary school students, state legislators, and community members were all in attendance for the re-installation of the steeple top. Church organizers say that members of the community have been key to the entire process from the steeple’s removal, repair, and now its final placement.Pastor Dan from the Community Church said he is grateful that everyone could come together to experience this historical moment, and that the church can continue to serve as a symbol of community connection.
