
After a year and a half of talks, teachers in Rutland finally have a ratified contract.The Rutland City School Board met at 5 p.m. Tuesday, with members unanimously voting to ratify the teachers’ union contract.That ratification officially closes the deal, and the contract is now in effect. Both sides came to an agreement earlier this month just hours before a planned strike was set to start. But the deal was not finalized until today, as it has not been ratified by the board.Members of the Rutland Education Association ratified the contract last week. District Superintendent Bill Olson said he looked forward to serving students now that the deal had been struck.”I think we can return our focus back toward serving our students. And that’s really what we’re here for. And I think the board wants to make that their focus as well,” he said.
