Immigration officials detain nearly a dozen construction workers in Vermont
At least 10 construction workers were detained by federal immigration officials at a private construction site near Newport, Vermont, according to the nonprofit Vermont Asylum Assistance Project. The group said the workers were reportedly all working with authorization as subcontractors through Patriot Building Systems of Londonderry, New Hampshire. They said at least five of the individuals were carrying proof of status when they were detained. The nonprofit believes they are all currently being held at the Northwest State Correctional Facility in Saint Albans.
