Crown Point high school softball is two wins away from a state championship. The Class D Section VII champions secured a dominant 13-1 win over the Section X champion Hammond high school, earning a New York regional championship plaque and Class D Final Four berth. This is the first time Crown Point has made it to the state semifinals since 2019. The Panthers defeated Fort Ann high school in the Class D regional finals that year before losing to Alfred-Almond high school in the state semifinals. Crown Point built an early nine-run lead after the first 2.5 innings of play against Hammond in the 2025 regional finals. It started off the contest with four runs in the first inning, then added five more by the third inning. Addison Hurlburt, Madison Wayman and Kaitlin Morse each tallied a pair of hits apiece for the Crown Point offense. Wayman and Hurlburt each had a triple with those two hits. Makenna Munson led the Panthers in RBIs with a bases-clearing three-RBI triple. Kaitlin Ross had a quieter day on the mound, but still helped the Crown Point defense hold Hammond to just one run on offense. She finished the game having allowed four hits and striking out six batters in a complete game performance. Crown Point will face either Argyle high school or Eldred high school on Friday, June 13, at 1 p.m. in the state semifinals at the Greenlight Grandslam Park in Binghamton, New York. If it wins that, it will be back in Binghamton the next day for the Class D state championship on Saturday, June 14.
