Ashley Goodrich was last seen on Oct. 17, 2021. More than three and a half years after her disappearance, her family has raised a $10,000 reward for information that leads to her recovery and the prosecution of the person or people involved. “Whatever has happened, she did not deserve this,” her mother, Jody Pierce, said. “And her children didn’t.” Goodrich, a mother of three, grew up with her family in Addison County. Not long before her disappearance, she married and settled with her husband in a home on Prospect Street in Fair Haven. Police said Goodrich was last seen on the railroad tracks near the property walking away from the home. Pierce said that when her daughter went missing, it was not suspicious at first. Family members were receiving texts and Facebook messages from her number and account. Goodrich was a bit of a rebel in the family, according to Pierce, there had been times when the family would lose contact with Goodrich. However, she would eventually make contact again. “She would say, ‘Love you, Mom. Say hi to the kids for me. Tell them I love them,'” Pierce said. “We dealt with those messages for several months, believing that she was OK.” As the messages continued without calls, Pierce said something just wasn’t right. A missing persons report was filed on Dec. 29, 2022. Since then, the family has not stopped searching for Ashley. Fair Haven Police Chief William Humphries said they made contact with Goodrich’s husband. He told police that Goodrich was near Hampton Beach in New Hampshire. She was not found there. The Prospect Street home and the surrounding area have been the subject of multiple searches. Any evidence collected has not been disclosed. “It does appear that either something happened to her, she got hurt, somebody did something to her, but we can’t prove either way,” Chief William Humphries said. “We’re still hopeful that we will find her.” With Ashley having been missing for years, Pierce believes that her daughter’s disappearance was not an accident. “We’ve had hope for a long time that we would bring her home safely,” she said. “Unfortunately, based on the evidence and things that we’ve been made aware of, it’s very unlikely.”Pierce said the experience has been heartbreaking for her and the family, but she said that she will never stop pursuing answers for Ashley. “It’s very difficult, this is a pain that just tugs on you day in and day out,” she said. Pierce has helped to organize searches for Ashley. She said they are expecting to do more. Anyone with information related to the disappearance of Ashley is urged to contact the Fair Haven Police Department or send an anonymous tip to the Vermont State Police.
