THE 36 YEAR OLD MERRIMACK NATIVE RAN FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE’S CANADIAN BORDER TO THE MASSACHUSETTS BORDER. AND GET THIS FIVE DAYS. FIVE DAYS DID THIS AVERAGING 40 MILES A DAY AND SMASHING THE OLD RECORD OF EIGHT DAYS. THE FLANNERY IS A FORMER BOXER WHO WAS ONCE BEDRIDDEN FROM A SPINAL TAP, GONE WRONG, AND EVER SINCE THAT, HE RECOVERED, HE’S BEEN RUNNING AND LOOKING FOR THE NEXT BIG CHALLENGE. THE MOST MAGNIFICENT THING THAT CAME OUT OF THIS, TRULY WAS, YEAH, WE RAISED MONEY FOR A GREAT CAUSE. YEAH, WE HAD A PERSONAL REASON AS WELL TO GO FOR A RECORD, BUT THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT WAITED TO TELL ME THEIR STORY OR THEIR JOURNEY, IT WAS SO FUN TO HEAR, LIKE HOW THEY OVERCAME THINGS AND THINGS LIKE THAT. A man from New Hampshire is hitting the road to explore his home state — on foot. Justin DeFlumeri finished a record-setting run Sunday in Nashua.The 36-year-old Merrimack native ran from New Hampshire’s Canadian border to the Massachusetts border in just five days, averaging 40 miles per day and smashing the old record of eight days. DeFlumeri is a former boxer who was once bedridden from a spinal tap gone wrong.Ever since he recovered, he’s been running and looking for the next big challenge.”The most magnificent thing that came out of this truly was, yeah, we raised money for a great cause, yeah, we had a personal reason as well to go for a record, but the amount of people that waited to tell me their medical story, their journey, it was so fun to hear how they overcame things, and things like that,” DeFlumeri said.He also raised money for the Heather Abbott Foundation on his run.
