
Hartford High School girls’ soccer remains undefeated after winning in dramatic fashion. The Hurricanes battled after trailing Fair Haven High School 1-0 via a Leigha Kretzer first-half to goal to storm back and take the 2-1 victory in overtime. Mackenzy Carrier got the scoring going for Hartford after taking the pass from a direct kick and hitting the back right of the net for the game-tying goal with roughly 26 minutes in regulation. In the first overtime, Harper Traendly delivered the game-winning goal after tracking the ball from a couple of Fair Haven clears and shot the ball up and over the entire opposing defense. Traendly cheered in celebration, receiving hugs from her teammates, coaches, knowing she helped Hartford keep their undefeated season alive at 2-0. “I was super, super excited,” Traendly said. “We played a really long, hard game and fought super, super hard for the win. So being able to score that for my team was super great. “Down the road from there, West Rutland High School was able to complete a comeback win of their own, taking a 5-4 victory against Mount Saint Joseph’s High School. Jada Hughes helped the Green Wave finish the first half with a 4-1 lead after scoring a pair of goals, but the Golden Horde responded with four answered goals in the second half for the 5-4 victory.
