
Officials with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office announced on Saturday night that they are investigating the fatal shooting of a man inside the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua.According to the AG’s office, one man entered the country club and fired several gunshots. A man was shot and killed and several other people were wounded.Officials said the suspected shooter was detained at the scene by Nashua police officers.Officials added that they believe there is no present threat to the public, and that initial reports indicating there were two shooters were “erroneous.”Shortly after the shooting, police initially said they were looking for two shooters, but later issued an update to indicate that video surveillance confirmed there was only one shooter and they were taken into custody.At least half a dozen other people were taken to Nashua area hospitals with injuries that were not gunshot-related, sources told Hearst sister station WMUR. Many were injured in the chaos of the shooting.As of 11:15 p.m., a shelter-in-place is no longer in effect in Nashua.The shooting occurred in a restaurant neighboring a wedding celebration, witnesses said.Sophie Flabouris, of Lowell, Massachusetts, said she heard multiple shots while attending a wedding and hid under a table.”Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, and then, ‘Gun, run.’ And people started screaming and running,” Flabouris said.Flabouris said the wedding guests heard the sound of gunfire from the restaurant in a neighboring space.”Some people ran out the door. Some people ran into the kitchen. People ran all different directions,” said Flabouris, who said people were screaming.Michael Homewood said he saw the shooter walk across the dance floor and into the kitchen.”He walked through the kitchen and went up to other guests and flipped them off and said various things and walked right out the back door of the kitchen,” Homewood said.Massachusetts State Police said they initially responded to the Sky Meadow Country Club at the request of Nashua police.”Ground assets as well as our K9 team and our Airwing initially responded, but all assets have since cleared,” Sarah Burgess, spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police, said.Nashua police said the Sheraton Hotel, 11 Tara Boulevard, will be utilized as the unification site, police said. They said for people not to respond to the area of Sky Meadow at this time.In a statement, Rep. Maggie Goodlander said, “I’m closely monitoring the tragic reports of a shooting tonight at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua.
