Check out the schedule and highlights from Week 4
Are you getting sick of us yet? Week 4 of Friday Night Fever is definitely not making me sick of high school football. 12 games to get to on both sides of the league. My name is Eric Kerr, and I’m the guy who’s gonna get you right to the action this morning. We’ll start with our NBC 5 game of the week featuring *** pair of Division 1 schools in Vermont trying to prove why they are *** contender for *** state title. Homecoming week at Rutland High School means *** good student section all in to watch the man, the myth, the legend Grady Gallagher. We’ll take things to the 3rd quarter tied at 7. They’re gonna feed the man. Gallagher plowing ahead right here for *** touchdown that puts Rutland up 13 to 7 after *** failed PAT. Saint Jay goes 3 and out on their next drive. Next Rutland drive, it’s Gallagher. He’s gonna say, watch this. Folks, get off me. You’re gonna get off me. All of you guys, get off me 50 yards to the house for *** touchdown. The two point is good as well for Rutland, giving them *** 21 to 7 lead. We’ll take things now. 21-13. Rutland less than *** minute to go. Maddox McFarland rolling out into the waiting arms of who else? Grady Gallagher coming away with the interception. The senior does it all, and he talks about his love for his squad. You know, um, I love this team, we’ve got *** lot of grit. I’m, I’m really proud of my boys for how they played. I’m really proud of my coaches for how they coached, um. Yeah, gotta be the gritty team, you know, can’t go away. Down Route 4 to Fair Haven, we go. Castleton Fire Department bringing out the big flag for the Slater’s homecoming as well. They’re taking on Brattleboro, but this game doesn’t start well for the home team Fair Haven. First drive, busted play. Cody Adams trying to make something out of it, but he’s gonna cough it up for *** fumble. Then *** bad toss from Adams to his running back, and Brattleboro, just like that, has two takeaways in the opening. quarter. 3rd time’s the charm. Let’s go to Sam Cahill. He’s gonna make some good things happen. Takes this carry and rips off *** big chunk for *** huge Fair Haven play. And then the next play coming up for the Slaters, Caleb Long gets the handoff this time he holds on to it and he’s going to get into the end zone for *** touchdown. Fairhaven overcomes their turnover woes, shutting out D1 Brattleboro. Essex High School running through the tape for mental health awareness. Hornets hoping they could also run into *** win last night, taking on Burn Burren Academy. Second half, Sam Bent using his legs at quarterback to set up his Hornets in great field position. How about that run from the QB1 and he’s gonna call his own number again for the touchdown. Essex 13 7. But next drive BBA taking *** page out of. Playbook, but they’re gonna have to give it to their running back Owen Casson, who puts his squad back in front 1413, and the Bulldogs defense was rough to get past on the goal line. Blaine Nquette rips the ball away from the Hornets and he takes it all the way to the other end for *** touchdown. Let’s get some flips for that defense. BBA’s pressure against Essex helps them take their third win of the season. Defense is amazing. Our coach always says defense wins championships, you know, you need all three phases of the game to win, and we did that today, so he’s game plan. That’s game planning all week, you know. We got some great coaches, we got some great players, and we, we pulled it off. It’s *** statement win for Vermont, you know, they, they better be looking at those Burn Bulldogs. Fans were going bananas in Saint Albans for some football. The Bob White’s taking on the U-32 Raiders at the Collins Pearly Sports Complex. Bob White’s starting out strong under their home lights, Kate and Brosso plunging into the end zone for the first touchdown of the game. However, U-32 would respond by saying, anything you can do, we can do better. Kane Knapp takes *** huge gain on the ground right here. That’s gonna set up the game tying touchdown, that same drive. The Raider defense with *** lock in preventing any more Bob White points, leading them to win by 3 more touchdowns. We’ll take things to Middlebury, Champlain Valley Union trying to play spoiler, handing one of the hottest teams in Vermont, the Middlebury Tigers, their first loss of the season. But easier said than done when you have to defend this trickery. How about this? *** design toss. Leads to *** deep pass play and it’s caught by Middlebury’s quarterback Brady Lloyd that leads to *** Tiger touchdown and probably *** play of the week nominee. Middlebury though continued to pour on the points all night long. Q in Ben Bishop, the running back, swerving his way past multiple Red Hawk defenders and diving into the Casa for 6 points. Tigers pounce on the Redhawks for *** dominant shutout victory. And even the kids are suckers for Friday Night Fever. Otter Valley taking on Misoy Valley in these highlights. Otters with the option play so tricky it even juked out our cameraman, but he eventually tracks down Chase Rozanowski, who scores the touchdown for the Otters. Then Otter Valley showing us the passing game coming up right here, rolling out in the shotgun. Colby Benoit comes away with the catch and that’s gonna lead to another otter touchdown. And then in the game’s late stages, Rozanowski calling his own number again, pulling off the razzle dazzle with this punt return touchdown. How about that? Otter Valley wins the Battle of the valleys, scoring over 60 points on Messcoy. Belows Falls also joining the domination club last night, scoring nearly 50 points for their 4th win of the season. Woodstock winning their 3rd game in *** row in *** down to the wire thriller against BFA Fairfax at home. Now to historic Linny Field in the north country. Mariah taking on Plattsburgh on the Section 7 gridiron. Both schools still searching for their first win of the season. Of course, special plays from special teams and special players can help. How about Cohen Sergeant blocking the Plattsburgh pun attempt and returning it to the house for *** Mariah touchdown. Colvin Johnson though would stay calm and collected for the Hornets delivering *** pair of beautiful dots down field, one of them leading to *** touchdown to Ryan Colburn for Plattsburgh, but Mariah would overwhelm the Hornets down the stretch. Here comes Joey Caslow going to play action and finding his special playmaker Sergeant for the passing. Vikings able to win this one over the Hornets 48 to 22. The Saranac Lake Red Storm staying red hot on the turf. They picked up their third straight CVAC win in *** row after *** solid outing against Ticonderoga. This puts the Red Storm at 3-0 in conference play and Ticonderoga at 0-3 in conference play. And looking ahead to week 5, our NBC 5 game of the week is back in Vermont as *** pair of unbeens will battle in Middlebury. Be sure to follow all our preview coverage leading up to Friday night’s kickoff next week between the Tigers and the Hartford.
