
A National Guard aircraft was involved in a crash in a field in Oklahoma City, prompting several emergency crews to respond.Two crew members were on board, one civilian contractor and one U.S. Air Force active duty member. Just after 2 p.m. Thursday, dispatchers received a phone call of an aircraft emergency, according to Scott Douglas with the Oklahoma City Fire Department. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene, where the flight crew had already gotten out of the plane.One of the crew mentioned the plane suffered engine failure and that the aircraft took out power lines as they were coming down, Douglas said. The collision knocked out power in the area and started a grass fire. The Oklahoma National Guard reported that the plane was an Air Force OA-1K Skyraider II. The aircraft and crew are assigned to the 492d Special Operations Wing and operate out of Will Rogers Air National Guard Base.Officials said the crew of the aircraft were engaged in a training mission at the time of the crash.The cause of the accident is under investigation.
