If you are looking for something fun to do for Halloween this year, there are a lot of options across our region. In Middlebury, the Town Hall Theater is bringing back a classic community event. It’s a Halloween Costume Ball that is free to attend. “I love Halloween and we have a really excited crowd shaping up for this event. We’ll have our dance floor open and it’s going to be a great time,” said Lisa Mitchell, the executive and artistic director of Town Hall Theater. The event features food, drinks, and a costume contest, but its claim to fame is the music. Soulshine Revival, an acclaimed New England-based Allman Brothers tribute band, will play live. Members said they’re ready to light up the stage.”It’s a riot because you don’t know who you’re looking at. I think it’s going to be a blast. I think it’s going to be an absolute blast,” said Ken Schofield, the drummer and singer for Soulshine Revival.Mitchell said the band is a key reason that she decided to put on the concert.”This band was our inspiration. We were talking with them about the ideal timing for a show and Halloween felt like a great fit. just the right vibe for our party crowd,” she added. Drummers Ken Schofield and John Wallace said they love the community that comes out to dance and celebrate.”It’s the brotherhood of playing with your friends. Then being able to relay that energy to people who are coming to see us and get their energy back. It’s amazing,” said Wallace. “We have fans from teenagers to octogenarians. We love the community of people who come to our shows.”Organizers said they hope the night isn’t just about Halloween, but also about bringing people together.”I hope the people have a blast, have a safe time, connect with Town Hall Theater, this band, and want to come back again and again,” said Mitchell. With live music, a dance floor, and prizes for the best costumes, Mitchell said it’s a chance to celebrate and bring some energy to the heart of Middlebury. Doors open at 7 p.m. on Friday at Town Hall Theater. The event is free but registration is required.
