
A Vermont man has been charged with possession of stolen property after police said he was trying to sell road signs on social media.Vermont State Police said Robert Jackman, 37, of Barre, was detained and cited over the weekend after the Vershire Selectboard notified troopers that several road signs around town had been stolen.Selectboard members said the signs had been stolen on unknown dates but were listed for sale on social media.Troopers were able to contact the seller, later identified as Jackman, and pose as potential buyers. They then arranged a meetup and detained Jackman as he tried to flee from the fake sale. Jackman is due in court in January to answer to the charge. All of the stolen signs were recovered and are being returned to the town of Vershire.
