
The Brattleboro Police Department arrested a man who allegedly attacked a firefighter during a medical emergency on Thursday.Officials said officers responded to the Covered Bridge Inn around 8:30 p.m. to assist the Brattleboro Fire Department with a call for a medical emergency.While there, Jacob Matyas, 35, of Townshend, allegedly put his hands around a firefighter’s neck in an attempt to strangle him.A police officer was able to intervene, and Matyas was arrested on charges including aggravated assault and assault on a protected individual.Matyas pleaded not guilty to the charges on Friday, and he was ordered held on 10,000 bail.A weight of the evidence hearing has been scheduled for mid-February.
