Missing skier from Atlanta, Georgia found dead at Whiteface Mountain, NYSP says
An autopsy has been conducted on a skier who died following a crash at Whiteface Mountain that happened late last week.New York State Police said the body of Michael Vacek, 44, of Atlanta, Georgia, was found in the tree line along the Upper/Lower Skyward Trail after he was reported missing by his group.Whiteface Mountain Ski Patrol located Vacek several hours after he had been reporting missing by a group of friends he had been skiing with that day. First responders attempted to revive him, but he was declared dead at the scene.The autopsy done on Vacek’s body determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the chest. An investigation for further details remains ongoing.
