For the 12th year in a row, Rutland High School cheerleading is on top of Vermont.The dynasty didn’t continue without drama, as Rutland’s routine tied Essex High School’s score of 163, leading the judges to go to a tiebreaking rubric defined by the level of difficulty of each school’s routine, removing technique when deciding the tiebreaker. Rutland’s 79 difficulty score edged the Hornets’ 75-point effort, sending Rutland home with a dozen consecutive state titles.Rutland’s practice partners from Mill River dominated the Division II slate, scoring 150 to take home a second title in three seasons.
