BORN IN 1926 IN LUCASVILLE, OHIO, MCROBERTS PROUDLY SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY AS A MEDIC FROM 1944 TO 1946. AFTER HIS SERVICE, HE WENT ON TO WORK FOR MEADOW GOLD DAIRY AND GERMANTOWN FEED MILL. HE THEN SPENT 25 YEARS WORKING FOR THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE. DURING THE LAST 100 YEARS, BRUCE HAS TOUCHED PEOPLE’S LIVES IN THE COMMUNITIES OF LUCASVILLE, DAYTON, GERMANTOWN AND MIDDLETOWN. JUST KEEPING OUR LEGACY GOING AND, YOU KNOW, ALL OF HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS HAVE PASSED AWAY. SO WE HAVE SOME OF OUR COUSINS HERE TODAY. World War II veteran celebrating 100th birthday this weekend
A World War II veteran is celebrating a special birthday that has been a century in the making.On Saturday, Bruce McRoberts turned 100 years old.Residents and staff at Majestic Core of Middletown Assisted Living in Ohio are honoring Bruce’s life and everyone he has impacted.Born in Lucasville, Ohio, in 1926, McRoberts previously served in the United States Army as a medic from 1944 to 1946.After his service, he went on to work for Meadow Gold Dairy and Germantown Feed Mill, then spent 25 years working for the U.S. Postal Service.During the last 100 years, McRoberts has touched people’s lives in the communities of Lucasville, Dayton, Germantown and Middletown.“All of his brothers and sisters have passed away, we have some of our cousins here today and we try to meet at least once a year,” Bruce’s youngest son, Scott McRoberts, said.
