
The Norwich lacrosse teams kept it cool on a chilly April day, picking up back-to-back wins in its latest home doubleheader. The women’s lacrosse team earned their win via a back-and-forth thriller against Colby-Sawyer College. The two schools entered the match tied at 6-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference standings, but a late go-ahead goal by Norwich’s Breanna Ricker helped the Cadets take the 11-0 win against the Chargers. Athena Merck led the Norwich offense with a game-high three goals in what was a very balanced attack. Lauren Labbe also chipped in with two goals. Multiple local Vermont players, such as Sophia Albright (East Dummerston) and Caitlin Slider (Thetford Center), also contributed to their team’s offense. The women’s lacrosse team takes on Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in their next game. Face-off for that match is on Friday, April 10 at 4 p.m. The men’s lacrosse team dominated from start to finish with a 20-9 win against GNAC foe Regis College. The Cadets scored at least three or more goals in every quarter of play, including seven goals in the first quarter and six goals in the third quarter. Christian Rainis led the Cadets’ offense with a game-high five goals, while Jake Marcotte and Drew Fleury also chipped in with four and three goals, respectively. Their offensive outputs helped Norwich stand at a 5-3 record in the GNAC.
