
Officers in Barnstable, Massachusetts, received a surprising call on Wednesday for an escaped emu.The large, flightless bird was found around 6:22 a.m., according to Barnstable police.Viewer video sent to Hearst sister station WCVB shows the animal strutting around a rotary, with two cruisers blocking off the street.Nearly an hour later, the emu was successfully recovered by its owners and taken home.There were no reports of any injuries to man or murawung.Police said no citations have been issued.Emus are native to Australia and can grow up to 6 feet tall. The birds are omnivores that run up to 30 mph.They are not considered an endangered species.
