1 person dead in early morning Rodman fire

RODMAN, New York (WWNY) – One person is dead following a fire in the town of Rodman early Monday morning.

The call came in just before 2 a.m. to a home at 26041 County Route 69.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies say the home was engulfed by flames when they, state police, and Rodman firefighters arrived. They say the homeowner was unaccounted for.

The fire was brought under control with the help of Rutland and Adams Center firefighters.

A body was found in the remains of the home after the fire was out.

The county’s Office of Fire and Emergency Management and state fire investigators are working to determine a cause.

Deputies say they expected to confirm the victim’s identity following a postmortem examination Monday.
