This will be followedy b increasing souther ly winds and cloud cover whh ic will help to limit radiational cooling overnight. Therefo, re overnight low temperatures will be in the upper teens to low 20s. On Wednesday, the North Country will be situated between o tw areas of low pressure. One will be situated to the north, and being a clipper type sysm te will generally lack moisture. The other will be a coastal w lo which will serve as the main fos cu fo r moisture and energy. At this time, model guidae nc remains consistent in keeping thnsistent in keeping ese two systems unphased, meaning the North Country will miss t ou on most of the action. However, recent trends in guidance have shifted further north and west with the extent of precipitation from the coastal low which will bring light snow to portions of eastern Vermont and e th Connecticut River Valley. In addition, there could be a brief period of mixed precipitation early Wednesday morning, mainly between 3 AM and 8 AM, f or southern Windsor County as a low- level warm nose pushes overhead. Combined with surface temperatures bel ow freezing, there could be a mix of snow, sleet, and freezg inrain which may impact the morning commute. By mid-morning, only light snow is expected. Meanwhile, the me or northern low will track along the international border bringing a cold front along with i t. Despite the lack of deep moisture, we are sti ll expecting to see some mountain snow showe rs with this feature. The ndderitic growth zone will lower as temperatures cool, meaning allow sh moisture will be sufficient to produce ongoing light, fluffy snow beginning Wednesday morning and continuing toin Thursday morning. Due to the lack of liquid content, total accumulations are expected to be less than 2 inches. Temperatures will trend colder as this system departs late Wednesday, and gusty winds will develop out of the west. Wind gusts will be up to 20-30 mph while temperatures drop into the low tes en this feature. Snow showers are possible throughout Wednesday across the region. A coastal storm will bring a few hours of light snow and icing in southern Vermont, into the Upper Valley and across most of New Hampshire.That storm should clear out by midday, giving way to sunshine.Bitter cold settles in Thursday – wind chills are near or below zero almost all day! Partly sunny skies give way to clouds Friday. A storm will need to be monitored for Christmas Day, with a wintry mix possible across the North Country. Latest models are indicating a colder trend… so while more snow than rain is possible, still only looks like a minor (1-3″) event.
