Mazdzer calls Olympic bid without doubles partner ‘bittersweet’
Saranac Lake’s Chris Mazdzer will be returning to the Olympics, without long-time friend and doubles partner, Jayson Terdiman.
Saranac Lake’s Chris Mazdzer found out he was returning to the games, but it came down to the last second. The 2018 silver medalist has battled a lot of adversity this year. Mazdzer competed the entire season with a broken foot. Before the year began, Mazdzer was a clear-cut favorite for the U.S. Olympic Team in singles and doubles. However, after Mazdzer and his doubles partner, Jayson Terdiman, crashed in the final race, the duo failed to qualify for doubles. Mazdzer found out today that he qualified for Beijing in singles, based on a ruling from the International Luge Federation. Saying heading to the Olympics is “bittersweet.””It feels good, there is a lot of relief. I wish I was here with my doubles partner Jayson. That is kind of where I put a lot of focus this year into. It’s really unfortunate. If it’s one run race don’t crash in it. It’s a little bittersweet, I really wanted to do singles and doubles at the Olympics.
