A Williston teen earned his wings on Saturday after Make-A-Wish Vermont helped him acquire the training hours he needed to obtain his pilot’s license.Wish Kid Dylan, 17, took his first flight outside of the Make-A-Wish Vermont offices this past weekend, as the organization celebrated its 900th wish granted. The organization partnered with South Burlington-based aerospace manufacturer Beta Technologies and the Vermont Flight Academy to help Dylan take his first flight.“It’s not every day that we get the opportunity to help make someone’s wish come true,” said Katie Clark of BETA Technologies. “We’re super grateful to be here at the start of Dylan’s journey to becoming a pilot!” Dylan had previously obtained his boater’s license at age 12 and later earned his Open Water Scuba Diver’s Certification before being diagnosed with a rare blood cancer. He had to put his goal of obtaining his pilot’s license on hold for more than a year while he underwent treatment, including a bone-marrow transplant. Dylan said his dream was to become certified by land, air and sea.
