Pumpkin spice making return to Dunkin’
– Pumpkin spice latte. We love it so much we gave it the acronym, PSL. You may know it as one of your favorite fall drinks that comes to Starbucks, but now you don’t have to wait until fall or for Starbucks to make it, you can do it right at home. You’ll need six ingredients, plus optionally whipped cream, but you know what? Not optional, seals the deal. You can use whipped cream that comes out of a can, or you can make your own. I like to just put it into a cold bowl and let it beat until it’s nice, soft, medium peaks. If you want a little bit of added sweetness, you can go ahead and put in some powdered sugar into your whipped cream while it’s beating. To get that nice fluffy, rich mouthfeel, we’ll be using an immersion blender to get that ideal texture. If you don’t have one, I’ll show you an alternative. So go ahead and grab some whole milk, a little bit of pumpkin puree, as well as some maple syrup, your pumpkin pie spice, of course, plus vanilla extract and a nice hot cup of coffee. To make your latte we’re gonna take a small sauce pan, put it over medium heat, and we’re gonna whisk together milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, our pumpkin pie spice, as well as vanilla extract. We’re gonna be whisking this constantly as it’s cooking, and we’re gonna go until it’s nicely warmed through. Once you can see it steaming a little bit, we’re gonna take it off the heat, we’re gonna go in with our immersion blender, and we’re gonna turbocharge it until it’s nice and frothy. Now, of course, if you don’t have an immersion blender, you can still make this delicious drink. The texture will just not be as rich and frothy, but you can go in with a whisk and just do it all by hand. Or if you have a little hand mixer, put on your whisk attachment, and let it beat until it’s as frothy as it can get. If you are aerating it by hand and whisking it manually, just know that the most efficient way to whisk air into stuff is going in one direction back and forth, and not in a circle. You’re gonna pour your hot coffee or espresso into your mugs. And then you’re gonna top it with this delicious concoction we just made. On top of that go in with some whipped cream. And on top of that, sprinkle on some more pumpkin pie spice. PSL, right at home. Did I make a mess? Absolutely. Is it delicious? A hundred percent. It’s super foamy, super light, yet super rich at the same time. The whipped cream just adds that extra layer of decadence and enjoyment to it all. And it just embraces you in a warm, pumpkin-spice-flavored hug. The maple syrup sweetens it just enough, and it combines with that coffee flavor so well. If you make your own PSL let us know how it went down below. Let us know what you would do differently to make it your perfect version of a pumpkin spice latte. Until next time, cheers.
