October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to commemorate the occasion, hundreds of people gathered Saturday morning for a meaningful walk in Bennington County.Vermont’s Susan G. Koman More Than Pink Walk was held in Manchester’s Hunter Park.People battling breast cancer, survivors, caregivers, family and friends were all wearing their best pink outfits to walk the 2.7-mile trail.The group raised more than $100,000 at this year’s walk.Cindy Marshall was the top individual fundraiser.She’s a 10-year survivor of breast cancer.”Having this event gives me hope, and I like to give back to others. Just the camaraderie of everyone being together and supporting one another. It just makes me feel full with joy,” Marshall said.She recently released a book about her experience in the battle against breast cancer.NBC5 was proud to be one of the local sponsors of this year’s walk.NBC5’s Brian Colleran served as the emcee for the opening ceremony of the event.
