St. Albans police arrested a man last week on multiple charges, including kidnapping.Police said a victim reported 32-year-old Edward Bennett Jr. from St. Albans forced his way into their home and assaulted them.The victim told police Bennett allegedly stabbed and held the victim at gunpoint. During the incident, Bennett fired a shotgun into the ceiling of the home before tying the victim to a chair for an extended period and threatening them.Bennett was arrested a few days after the assault and is being held at Northwest Correctional Facility on separate charges.On Thursday, St. Albans police searched a home for more evidence. Police said they found firearms and drugs inside.Bennett, who is still in custody at the Northwest State Correctional Facility for unrelated charges, will be cited for first-degree aggravated domestic assault, domestic assault, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal threatening, interference with access to emergency services, petit larceny, and unlawful mischief.The investigation is ongoing. Bennett is expected in court on Friday.
