Fire engulfs garage, vehicles in Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG, New York (WWNY) – A garage on Washington Street in Ogdensburg is deemed a total loss following a Tuesday afternoon fire.

Ed Fisher sent us video via Send It To 7. It shows flames shooting from the front end of a garage.

According to city fire officials on the scene, the fire started inside the garage. Crews’ quick response helped save the family’s home, which is feet away from the garage.

There were no injuries reported but city police and fire investigators were taking pictures at the scene after the blaze was put out.

“We responded with a personnel of five,” Fire Chief Ken Stull said. “Upon arriving on scene, the crew noticed heavy fire to the front corner of the garage, threatening the house, the structure next door. The crew attempted to extinguish the fire in the garage and put the priority on preserving the house.”

Heuvelton and Morristown fire departments helped extinguish the blaze.

Investigators say the cause is still under investigation.
