I would like to thank the Barnes family, the Collegiate partners with Southern University of New Orleans I H S and staff. And you asked for being present for Dennis Bones Press Conference, International High School of New Orleans is known for building college and career pathways for high school students. Students at I H S N O are afforded an opportunity to participate in their advanced level coursework. And this process began at the ninth grade level. In addition, the students, faculty and staff and community partners have witnessed *** record breaker for three students who receive $5 million of scholarship offers, which is *** trend setter for our I B profile framework to ensure that the principles of education. This is very important every child can achieve and pursue *** premier education. Dennis is known for the highly ranked $10 million of South. Excuse me, scholarship offers that have shattered the United States and we know his accomplishments have inspired young youth around the world. I would like to congratulate Dennis for *** job well done for being *** great success and for raising the bar very high. At this time, I would like to introduce Doctor Dennis Barnes, um Dennis’s father. Thank you. I thank you, Mrs James. Thank you very much. Uh First, I would just like to give all honor and all thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Um for this moment, uh specifically, um today, I’d just like to share uh just *** few thoughts about my son. Dennis is actually the fourth generation with the name Dennis Barnes. Uh But uniquely, each one of us have *** different middle name. So when the Lord gave Dennis to me, I wanted him to have *** name that meant something. And in the Arabic, the Arabic word for king is Malik. So this is who I’m sharing with the world on today. This is how I’ve always viewed Malik as my son, my king. One of the things I would like to just share about Dennis is what this is James uh mentioned earlier is what it is to be *** leader as far as influence and giving back and so forth. I just want to share *** few qualities that uh Dennis has um adhered to his own. I have tried to, I try to instill in him these different traits of just what it needs to be *** leader. Um by definition, *** leader is the one who’s usually in charge, the person who convinces other, other people to follow. *** great, *** great leader, inspires confidence in others and moves them to action in my household. I teach my Children as *** leader, you know, leaders are always forever learning and simply said, I would say leaders are readers if you’re not reading someone else is. And in doing that overall, the true identification of *** leader is one that gets result, I can truly say on today just by the result of all you lovely people. That’s here today, that King Malik is truly *** leader. He’s one that’s humble. He’s one that’s honest and he has integrity. And above all, I challenge you Malik to always give back because the, the identity of *** true leader is to serve. And I thank God and I’m honored to be called your father. Here is the King Malik. Don’t. Good morning, everybody. I just wanna thank you all for coming out on today. First, I wanna acknowledge God. I give all glory and honor to God. I thank him for allowing me to be here on today. Um I thank him for allowing me to accomplish everything that I’ve accomplished. I want to acknowledge my parents, Doctor Dennis and Re Barnes. Um And I would like to acknowledge MS Denise James. I thank her for helping me and guiding me through this process as my counselor. And ultimately, I would like to, I would like to acknowledge the I H S and those staff and everybody that has helped me over the course of my high school career. Um Today, I am pleased to announce my final college decision for the fall of 2023. It is an honor and privilege to be accepted to the Ivy League Cornell Universities College of Engineering. And yes, thank you Lord. Congratulations Malik. I express great gratitude for the support for the support system in both high school and at home and professors at the collegiate level. I have committed to Cornell University and intend to pursue computer science to later move on to practice software development. Today is an exciting day for me and my family and I look forward to working with Cornell’s College of Engineering over the course of my undergraduate education. Again. I just wanna thank you all for coming out today. Thank you for your support. Thank you for the love and ultimately, I give all glory and honor to God again.
