WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Washington Street Plaza in Watertown reopened shortly before 2 p.m. Monday after a bomb threat prompted officials to evacuate businesses.
City police said the threat was called into the Piggly Wiggly grocery store. It was reported to police at 12:16 p.m.
A bomb-sniffing dog from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene and found nothing.
Detective Sergeant Joseph Giaquinto of the Watertown Police Department said an investigation is underway to find out who called in the threat.
City firefighters and an ambulance squad were also on the scene as a precaution.
