HARRISVILLE, New York (WWNY) – One person is dead after a garbage truck crashed near Harrisville Thursday.
First responders were called to the intersection of State Route 3 and Richardson Road around 5:30 p.m.
Part of Route 3 was shut down until almost 3 a.m. Friday.
State police say two people were in the truck when it crashed and were working at the time.
We’re told the driver was killed. The other person was treated at Carthage Area Hospital and released.
The scene is under investigation.
“Reconstruction team will come out here and reconstruct the accident scene by taking measurements, photographs, an overhead view of the scene,” state police Capt. Robert Simpson said. “We’ll also have our commercial vehicle enforcement unit will respond to the scene and begin inspecting the vehicle.”
Officials have not said what led to the crash.
