Last week, we told you that SUNY Canton athletics was accepted into the SUNYAC Conference beginning in the 2024-25 sports season.
SUNY Canton will compete in 13 of the SUNYAC’s 22 conference championship sports, making the move from the North Atlantic Conference.
Roos Athletic Director Randy Sieminski says he feels one of the many advantages to joining the SUNYAC Conference will be on the recruiting side of things for SUNY Canton.
”I think it’s going to help us, particularly recruit New York students. They know the other schools, they know the conference, they know it’s an elite conference and the recognize where we’re playing. Their families will- It will be much easier for them to go to some of our away games, that sort of thing. There really are a lot of advantages beyond the obvious ones, there’s a lot of smaller ones that the further you look into it, makes sense for us to make the change,” said Sieminski.
