WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – North Country non-profit Food and Farm Connections is trying something new this winter.
Saturday, the organization hosted its first ever indoor farmers market at Salmon Run Mall.
According to Board President Jonathan Schell, it’s an effort to bolster the relationship between consumers and local vendors who’d usually lack a venue this time of year.
This event was also planned around Thanksgiving to give folks the chance to prepare their holiday feasts with local produce.
Schell feels the event was well received and could lead to more markets being held throughout the winter.
“We’re going to see how this one works. We’re going to evaluate things and see maybe if we can have another one this year. If not, we’ll try to at least make this an annual event,” said Schell.
About a dozen different vendors came out to participate in the market.
