No injuries in helicopter crash at Ogdensburg International Airport

TOWN OF OSWEGATCHIE, New York (WWNY) – There were no injuries reported in a helicopter crash at Ogdensburg International Airport Saturday.

According to Heuvelton 2nd assistant chief Dylan Barton, fire crews responded to Ogdensburg International Airport and found a white helicopter, but there was no pilot.

Airport staff were able to contact the owner who had already left the scene to return for questioning.

The helicopter’s sole occupant, the person flying the helicopter, was uninjured in the crash, but the helicopter did sustain extensive damage.

Barton says the helicopter is kept at the airport and the driver flies it frequently.

It’s unclear at this time how the crash occurred and where the pilot was coming from.

We will update this story as we learn more.
