A building fire in downtown Burlington prevented one popular bar from opening its doors for business Saturday night.Burlington Fire Department said they responded to 198 Pearl St. with reports of smoke and fire visible from the adjacent street, North Winooski Avenue.According to BFD, at around 12:30 in the afternoon, a third alarm was transmitted after bystanders said they saw people inside the building’s apartment before firefighters got to the scene. It took multiple crews cutting through several layers of roofing material to find the fire and then put it out before it could spread.BFD said damage from the blaze was limited to the back of the top floor and roof of 6-10 North Winooski.South Burlington Fire, Winooski Fire, Colchester Fire, VTANG Fire, and Burlington Police were all on-scene to assist.Representatives from the owners of the building, Hinsdale Properties, was reportedly on the scene to help tenants with finding housing. Below the affected apartment, a popular bar, Radio Bean, said in a Facebook post that fire hoses and sprinkler systems flooded the venue, along with other businesses below. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
